How to be ready for your next inflection.

Sitting in my calculus class many years ago, i had pondered over why our teacher was telling us that the point of inflection is a critical milestone to watch out for. I couldn’t relate it to anything in real life at that time.

Wondering what’s an inflection point? Think of it as a key event that changes the trajectory of a process or a situation and moves it in a different direction, like a curve graph going from concave to convex.

Today, it feels like most major influences in our lives like economies, societies, technology, education; are all driven by inflection points.

So, isn’t it quite likely that these influences create some sort of tremors in us, leading us towards our own inflection points? e.g. the year 2020 has been full of them — Pandemic, Stock market boom, Edutech revolution, AI invasion, Diversity & Inclusion campaigns, and many more….

Spiritually, it is said that a solar cycle, which is approximately 12 years, has a strong bearing upon what happens in our lives.

If we try to conjoin the solar cycle theory to the inflection points in our lives, then every 12 years, we are ready for a transformative change.

I invite you to reflect on this for a moment and see what have been your inflection points in life so far, and how have you recognised them, and been ready for them?

We now have a good compass of the 12 year mark to do this reflective exercise.

Ask your self these 6 questions and i strongly recommend that you write down the answers -

  1. What were my last 2–3 inflection points?
  2. What made it happen?
  3. How did i respond?
  4. When can be my next inflection (approximately)?
  5. Am i ready for my next inflection?
  6. Who do i need to be, to ride the next wave of inflection?
